Get two links — one for you (the moderator) with full controls, and one for your guests with just the basics.
Share the guest link with whoever needs to attend. They click it when it's time.
Start your meeting by clicking your moderator link. Guests are let in once you're there.
Hit Record if you want a recording. Everyone will see a notification.
End the meeting and the system takes over — your recording, transcript, speaker labels, and AI minutes are generated automatically in the background.

Your Data, Your Rules

What we store

Only what's needed to run your meetings:

Meeting recordings — stored securely on Australian servers, accessible only to the meeting owner
Transcripts and minutes — generated from your recordings, same access rules
Meeting tokens — your link credentials, valid until the meeting's end date

What we don't store

Credit card details (payments go through Stripe)
Chat messages (cleared when the meeting ends)
Audio or video unless you hit Record
Browsing habits, analytics profiles, or advertising data

How long do we keep it?

Recordings and transcripts are kept for at least 90 days. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Common Questions

Do guests need to create an M8Chat account?

Nope. Guests just click the link you send them and they're in. No sign-ups, no downloads, no fuss.

Can guests record the meeting?

No. Only moderators (the person who created the meeting) can start and stop recording. This gives you full control over what gets saved.

How long does the transcript take?

It depends on the length of the recording. A one-hour meeting typically takes 15 to 30 minutes to transcribe. The AI minutes are usually ready within a couple of minutes after that. You'll see the status update in your dashboard.

What if two people talk at the same time?

The speaker labelling uses dominant-speaker detection — whoever's talking the loudest gets credit for that section. It works really well for normal conversation. When people talk over each other, it picks the main voice.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes. M8Chat meetings run in your mobile browser — no app needed. Works on iPhone, Android, iPad, whatever you've got.

Is my meeting encrypted?

Yes. All connections use modern encryption (TLS 1.2+). Every participant must have a valid token to join — there's no way to sneak in without one.

Can I get a transcript without recording the video?

Not at the moment. The transcript is generated from the recorded audio, so you'll need to hit Record for the full experience. We're looking into audio-only options for the future.

How do I access my recordings and minutes?

Everything is available from your M8Chat dashboard. You'll see your recordings listed with download links for the video, transcript, and AI minutes. Only you (the meeting creator) and admins can access them.

What languages are supported?

The speech-to-text system automatically detects the language being spoken. It works best with English but supports dozens of languages. The AI minutes are always written in Australian English.
